About The Author

This blog is authored by Pooja Kshirsagar, a 29-year-old Mumbai-based woman with a flair for writing.

In Pooja's own words,

"Hello, folks! Thank you for being here at my blog. Each and every view on this blog matters to me because this literally is my heart and soul. I am not great at communicating my feelings and opinions verbally, so I choose to put them down through writing. And if you are here, it is an absolute pleasure for me to know that people want to read what I write.

I am a shy and introverted person who may take ages to open up to people. I have met and known a lot of people but my close circle remains small. I truly appreciate the people in my life and attribute whatever I am to their constant backing and motivation. I am not a fancy writer; I write to express, not to impress. I am not an open well of vocabulary, but a raging sea of feelings. And through this blog, I hope to put my heart out to the world and engage my readers.

I have been writing since my school days. I have always been a lover of stories and the passion has only spiralled over time. Having bagged several prizes in essay and story writing competitions at school, I knew I was probably good at the art of written expression. However, the hustle of life distanced me from this hobby a couple years ago, until I rediscovered the joy of it recently.

My love for stories expands beyond writing and flows down to reading. I love both fiction and non-fiction, and I advocate self-help and inspirational books. I also absolutely cherish poems and shayaris. When I am not reading, I love driving, travelling, enjoying music and making new friends.

If you are here hoping to get to know me, this introduction may be of little help as I'm currently on the journey to understand and rediscover myself. Through this blog, I hope we can connect and get to know each other, one post at a time. So, keep visiting!"

Afghanistan - A Tale of Dying Hope and A Myriad of Choked Emotions

I was only a teenage college student when reports of the Syrian civil war found their place in newspapers and on television screens. The effects of war and the distress caused to the innocent civilians broke my heart every single time they were reported in the media. It was around this time that I had just started reading and watching news and I remember being heartbroken by the shocking pictures of destruction and loss coming from the war-torn country. Déjà vu hit me hard a few days ago when reports of the Taliban descending upon the major cities of Afghanistan found their way into media. In no time, the military organisation had most of the country’s major cities in its control and chaos had already crept into every human mind in the nation. Looks of worry flashed upon every face and uncertainty ruled the once carefree atmosphere. It was only a matter of days. Only a couple of days that changed the face of the entire country. While we in India were celebrating our 75 th Inde...

Rediscovering The Magical World Of Books

There was a time when I was an extremely enthusiastic reader. I would read anything and everything; from books and newspapers to even pamphlets and cutouts of papers used by roadside stalls to pack and serve food. I developed the habit of reading while obtaining my BMM degree. I distinctly remember our professors advising us to cultivate the habit not just to widen one’s knowledge and perspective but to find new stories around. It was around this time that I started reading and began my slow descent into a world of magic. There is something about words. They can either drown you or uplift you, then appease you and give you hope. Words can betray and words can heal. And if a couple of words hold this amount of power, imagine what a book can do. Books take you to places you cannot physically go; into fairylands and zombie worlds, into the past and the future. A book is a treasure house, not only of information but stories and experiences. They are like angels that hold your hand ...

The Eternal Pressure To Fit In And The Unending Career Debacle

When I was in school, fast approaching my 10 th standard boards, the discussion about choosing the right stream in college had already seeped into everyday conversations at home. I would hear stories about my cousins, seniors and friends of friends competing to get a seat in the best college as the competition was insane. I knew the names of almost every engineering and medical college in the city because that’s what everyone was talking about. All the stories I had heard about career and competition narrowed down to two streams, engineering and medicine. Naturally, I was not aware of any other stream that could be considered for a career. Even if I did, I was hardly aware of its scope, so I assumed it was imperative that my ambition be to become either an engineer or a doctor. But atypical as I am, I did not particularly have an interest in either of the fields. Nevertheless, I chose ‘Science’ in junior college because I did not know what I wanted to do. My sister was studying engi...
